20.YÜZYIL SES DÜNYASI BAĞLAMINDA ÇEVRESEL SESLERİN HAREKET VE GÖRSEL KARŞILIKLARININ ARAŞTIRILMASI: “AKUSTİK DEVİNİMLER”

EXPLORING THE KINETIC AND VISUAL CORRELATIONS OF ENVIRONMENTAL SOUNDS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE 20TH CENTURY SOUND WORLD: “ACOUSTIC MOVEMENTS”

Abstract

Since the beginning of the 20th century, the process of change in technology and social domains in Western Europe and America has influenced aesthetic and intellectual theories. The traditional art paradigms of the era have been shattered, leading to alterations in how the world is perceived and interpreted. In the field of music, the Italian futurist painter and composer Russolo's 1913 manifesto, "The Art of Noise," advocated for the use of all surrounding noises as musical elements, while Pierre Schaeffer's concept of Musique Concrète involved recording existing sounds from the acoustic world and subjecting them to various processes to create entirely new sounds. These developments represent crucial steps in the quest for a new sonic realm. In daily life, people live amidst a vast array of sounds, often unaware of their presence. However, with careful attention, various sonic structures can be observed in the surroundings. Naturally occurring soundscapes, untouched by human intervention, serve as the starting point for this research. This study first examines the changing soundscapes from the mid-20th century onwards and their impact on music. Subsequently, it describes the process of creating the performance titled "Acoustic Movements," which involves selecting sounds from the environment based on their rhythmic and melodic qualities and transforming them into movement and music, as well as integrating them together. The research involves exploring the correlations between these sound data and the movements of dancers and the visual representations created by painters. Each sound datum's movement counterpart has been translated into choreography, visual elements are derived from the drawing counterparts, and, additionally, the entire choreography's music has been created using the same sound data.

20. yy başından itibaren Batı Avrupa ve Amerika'da teknoloji ve toplumsal alanlarda yaşanan değişim sürecinden estetik ve düşünsel kuramlar da etkilenmiş, dönemin sanatçılarının geleneksel sanat anlayışı, dünyayı algılama ve yorumlama şekilleri değişmiştir. Müzik alanında İtalyan fütürist ressam ve besteci Russolo'nun 1913 yılında yazdığı etraftaki tüm gürültülerin birer müzikal öğe olarak kullanılabileceğini savunduğu "Gürültü Sanatı" manifestosu ve Pierre Schaeffer'in akustik dünyada var olan sesleri kaydedip değişik işlemlerden geçirerek yepyeni bir ses oluşturduğu Musique concrète (somut müzik) anlayışı yeni ses dünyası arayışındaki en önemli adımlardır. İnsan günlük hayatta farkında olmadığı büyük bir ses kalabalığının içinde yaşar. Bir süre sonra bu seslere karşı duyarsızlaşır. Fakat dikkat edildiğinde etrafta pek çok farklı sessel örgüler görülebilir. Çevrede müdahale etmeden oluşmuş ses yapıları bu araştırmanın çıkış noktasını oluşturmuştur. Bu çalışmada ilk olarak 20. yüzyıl ortalarından itibaren değişen ses dünyası ve bu değişimin müzikteki etkileri ele alınmıştır. Ardından bu bakış açısıyla çevremizde müdahale etmeden oluşmuş, ritmik ve ezgisel yapılarına göre seçilmiş seslerin harekete, müziğe, çizimlere dönüşme ve birbirine entegre edilmesi ile ortaya çıkan Akustik Devinimler adlı performansın oluşum süreci anlatılmıştır. Dansçılar ve ressamlardan oluşan gruplarla bu ses verilerinin hareket ve çizim karşılıkları araştırılmış, çalışmada ortaya çıkan her ses verisinin hareket karşılıkları bir koreografiye dönüştürülmüş, çizim karşılıklarından koreografinin görsel malzemesi elde edilmiş ve aynı ses verileri ile ayrıca tüm koreografinin müziği oluşturulmuştur.
