ORTAÖĞRETİM MESLEK LİSESİ 9. SINIF ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN FONKSİYONLAR KONUSUNA İLİŞKİN ALGILARI

Abstract

PERCEPTIONS OF 9^TH GRADE VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS REGARDING THE TOPIC OF FUNCTION

The purpose of this study is to identify the perceptions of 9^th grade vocational high school students regarding the topic of functions. 140 students participated in the study. The data were collected through an achievement test that was taken by 140 students as well as individual interviews conducted with 10 students - a subset of students who had taken the achievement test. Qualitative analysis methods were used to analyze the interview data, while the achievement test data were analyzed by using SPSS 15.0 statistical analysis program. The results of the data analysis show that students understand the Venn diagram representation of functions well and they do not have difficulty in understanding other elements of functions (such as domain, range and image set), but they have difficulty in representing functions as ordered pairs.

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı Ortaöğretim Meslek Lisesi 9. sınıf öğrencilerinin matematik dersinde fonksiyonlar konusuna ilişkin algılarını belirlemektir. Çalışma140 öğrenciyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler bir başarı testi ve ayrıca öğrencilerin 10 ‘u ile mülakat yapılarak elde edilmiştir. Başarı testinden elde edilen verilerin analizi SPSS 15.0 paket programında yapılmıştır. Mülakatlardan elde edilen veriler için nitel analiz yapılmıştır. Verilerin analizinden, öğrencilerin fonksiyonun şematik (Venn şeması) gösterimini iyi algıladıkları; fonksiyona ait elemanları ( tanım kümesi, görüntü kümesi değer kümesi ) algılamada zorluk yaşamadıkları; fakat fonksiyonun sıralı ikili gösteriminde güçlükler yaşadıkları belirlenmiştir. Fonksiyonun grafiksel gösterimi konusunda çok olumsuz oldukları belirlenmiştir.
